Event Insights: CIAC's Venture into Sustainability

The Radical Fund’s Paul Ark (Polapat Arkkrapridi) was invited to participate in the “Venture into Sustainability” program at the Canada-in-Asia Conference on February 27th in #Singapore. Curated by Anchor Asia (Anchor Taiwan) in partnership with Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (AFPC), the event brought together entrepreneurs and investors from 🇹🇼 Taiwan, 🇸🇬 Singapore, 🇵🇭 the Philippines, 🇹🇭 Thailand, 🇻🇳 Vietnam, 🇲🇾 Malaysia and (of course!) 🇨🇦 Canada to showcase top-flight, #female-led startups developing cutting edge innovations addressing global climate problems.

There is a lot that could be said about the event, but we can boil it into a few short-but-sweet takeaways:

1️⃣ Canada’s sustainability and climate startup ecosystem is producing a fascinating and diverse range of startups, solutions, and technologies. On top of that, there are some incredible women entrepreneurs across Canada, and the efforts of the Canadian government are really amplifying the amazing work these women are doing.

2️⃣ The partnership between #Taiwanese and #Canadian parties to leverage #SoutheastAsia ecosystems produced a fantastic and enlightening event. We certainly welcome opportunities for ASEAN investors and entrepreneurs to participate in future collaborations with ecosystem builders and tech advocates from different parts of the globe.

3️⃣ And why aren’t there more reverse pitch events?!? VCs certainly get more than their fair share of opportunities to observe, interrogate, and judge entrepreneurs on stage; turning the tables on the VCs and putting them under the spotlight while entrepreneurs and audience members get a chance to poke, prod, and probe the investors was a refreshing and entertaining change of pace, and certainly nudged The Radical Fund to think on its toes!
